The Tangent sport is powered by a small thorium nuclear reactor in order to provide energy continuously and for long periods of time. The car also has efficient safety systems to prevent nuclear spillage and for cooling the reactor. There are 2 filtered vents at the back of the car that can be used to expell heat or to suck in air . The reactor is the main power system of the car but it is not the only one. A second system for providing power consists of a solar cell laiden skin which covers the body shell of the car. The cells are incredibly efficient as they can make electricity from visible light, UV light and heat. Both systems can store the electricity in the batteries that are placed right into the frame of the car. The electricity can be then sent wirelessly from the batteries or directly from the reactor through the use of electro magnetic fields which spin at different frequencies. In fact the Tangent SP car has very little wiring thus saving weight and improving safety. Almost all the materials used on the car are nanomaterials thus being very light and strong.
The vehicle can also adapt to various terrains and speeds by adjusting the shape of the wheels and the angle of the winglets at the back. The wheels use a combination of metals and polymers which are integrated through nano cavities in the metals and can changes shape and durity by passing electricity through them.
The cockpit is fully stocked with enough food and water for 2 people for a week and also has all the tools necessary in case of an emergency. All these supplies are locate in the compartments located at the back of the cockpit.
The driving on this car be done in 3 different ways which can be useful on various occasions. The driver can steer the car using only the power of his brain which is measured by the seat, he can also steer by positioning his body and leaning into the seat in different positions. Of course these systems can require greater concentration and may be suitable only for straight flat terrain in the deserts. The final way to steer the car and the most traditional is by the use of a joystick that pops out of the armrests. These systems are also complimented by a an autopilot system that can take over from the driver when he's too tired or ill.
